People wave BJP flags at Rahul Gandhi's road show in Haridwar

Haridwar: Thousands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters waived the party's flag and raised slogans in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday during Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's road show and nukkad sabha in Uttarakhand's Haridwar city.

"Have you ever thought why despite having such great potential Uttarakhand has lagged behind Chattisgarh and Jharkhand which were created together by Atal Bihari Vajpayee?"

While most opinion polls have predicted that the BJP would come to power, Harish Rawat-led Congress is giving it a tough fight in most constituencies.

He said the alliance would ensure a transparent and efficient government.

Your fate is in your hands so choose wisely, claimed Modi. "Let him do that in his free time but his main job is that of a Prime Minister in which he has been a cent per cent failure", Gandhi said at the joint media conference with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow.

He promised to do much more for the state if BJP comes to power in the state. He said that he has grand plans to tap the state's tourism potential and herbal wealth to lure visitors from all over the world to its doorsteps.

We know our responsibilities, unlike the current government, said PM Modi.

The counting of votes will take place on March 11.
