The MBA program at UM's Ross School of Business climbed one spot to no. 11 in the country after finishing with the 12th best program in last year's ranking. Psychology is 17th; English and history are 20th. Programs are ranked and evaluated on standardized test scores of newly enrolled students, opinions from experts on each program's quality, acceptance rates and/or criteria specific to each degree field.
IU President Michael A. McRobbie said the two sets of rankings highlight the university's efforts to provide a quality education in a wide variety of disciplines.
The W&M School of Education also improved this year to tied at 46 from 55, and is one of the smallest schools of education to be ranked in the top 50. "Since 1976, La Salle University's School of Business has offered an MBA to working adults throughout the region, and it has continuously adapted its curriculum and course delivery to prepare students for the ever-changing business landscape. Also, our continued focus on personalized attention, keeping each and every student engaged with connections to our alumni and our strong corporate partner community has contributed", said Jon Kaplan, assistant dean and director of the Full-Time MBA Program at the Merage School.
Fuqua specialty programs ranked in the survey were Marketing (fourth); Executive MBA (tied for fourth); Management (tied for sixth); Finance (12th).
Among online programs, Baylor's online master's degree program in nursing leadership and innovation, now in its second year, made the highest jump of all rankings from No. 79 last year to No. 39 in the U.S. News online program rankings.

The school climbed 16 spots to 62nd out of 197 accredited law schools in the Best Schools of Law category. Its worldwide law program was ranked no. 6, while its clinical training came in at no. 9.
The IU School of Education ranks 32nd. It achieved a no. 1 ranking in higher education administration, while finished at no. 2 in secondary teacher education, educational psychology and elementary teacher education.
The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences was not on the list of best medical schools for research or primary care.
Some programs are ranked annually by U.S. News and others on varying year-to-year cycles.
The Tickle College of Engineering graduate program is now 33rd among public universities, up three spots from previous year.
