Stalker held by Secret Service after begging Malia Obama to marry him

A man is accused of repeatedly stalking and harassing Malia Obama, according to WCBS-TV.

Jair Nilton Cardoso, 30, went up to the fourth floor of the Manhattan building where 18-year-old Malia is now interning, held up a sign, and starting shouting that she should marry him on April 10, sources told the New York Daily News.

On 10 April, Cardoso reportedly climbed to the fourth floor of Malia's work building and hung a proposal banner, sources said, before being removed by secret service agents, the New York Daily News reports.

He was removed from the building by Obama's Secret Service agents.

The 18-year-old's Secret Service detail stopped Cardosos and realized that he had also been busted barging into the White House several times in the past.

The next day, Secret Service agents went to Cardoso's Brooklyn apartment and interviewed him, sources said.

The agents reported the man to the Manhattan police department, who has not yet filed charges but is reportedly considering doing so on stalking or harassment counts.

Only two days later, Cardosa allegedly followed Obama at a different location in the West Village. After concluding he had psychiatric issues, agents took Cardoso to a local hospital for evaluation. She has an interest in film and previously interned for the Halle Berry CBS series Extant as well as the HBO series Girls. The agents confronted the man, took down his information and made him leave, while the former White House resident slipped out of the office through a side door, as Opposing Views reported at the time. She is expected to enroll at Harvard in the fall.
