He began by blasting the media for its "dishonesty" and lamenting the "mess" that he inherited from President Barack Obama both at home and overseas.
In a rambling address that lasted more than one hour and fifteen minutes, Mr Trump jumped from topic to topic, criticising a number of media channels for their low audience ratings and highlighting his victory in the election.
"I just want to let you know, I inherited a mess".
"We will be issuing a new and very comprehensive order to protect our people", Trump said.
"The press has become so dishonest that if we don't talk about it we are doing a tremendous disservice to the American people", he said, adding: "The press are out of control".
"This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine", he said, dismissing recent reports of a White House in "chaos". "I don't have any deals in Russian Federation", he said.More news: ZTE launching a gigabit smartphone at Mobile World Congress
Donald Trump has blasted the media once again claiming that "the media doesn't get it" and speaks for the special interests on those profiting.
Forget 'fake news", now it's "very fake news."
Trump specifically cited CNN for their negative coverage of his administration. "I'm really not a bad person, by the way. When they make something that should be good negative" that's when i have a problem.
Earlier this morning, Trump took to Twitter to slam reports based on information from the intelligence community as "fake news" while simultaneously saying something needed to be done about the "illegal leaking". It would appear that they could not be both.
Donald Trump has denied that his senior aides were in "constant contact" with Russian Federation during the campaign. "Were going to take care of it all", he said at the news conference.
