Derek Jeter, Jeb Bush working together to buy Marlins

Derek Jeter reportedly has a new teammate - Jeb Bush - and it's all in an effort to buy the Miami Marlins.

Bush and Jeter are competing against NY financier Wayne Rothbaum, according to the report.

Jeter, a future Hall of Famer, has a house in Tampa, and Bush lives in Coral Gables.

Forbes has previously valued the team at $940 million, good for 25th out of 30 teams.

Derek Jeter is the recently retired Yankee Captain, playing all 20 seasons in pinstripes.

The former New York Yankees star and former Florida governor have joined forces in their pursuit of the Miami Marlins, a person familiar with the situation said Wednesday.

Jeter has expressed interest in owning an Major League Baseball team for years - and has even gotten the blessing of the Steinbrenner family. His brother George also co-owned the Texas Rangers at one point during the '90s.

Rothbaum, Jeter and Bush's top competition, has been a biotech investor for 25 years and founded Quogue Capital LLC in 2002, according to Bloomberg. "In my mind he'll always be a Yankee", Girardi said.
